TMD Preface Comparison

What really helped me understand the books we have studied more is learning about the lives of the authors. Knowing about the life of the author and some of the major events from their life can help give a reason for some of the things in the books. Maybe a character goes through a certain event that you wouldn't expect, but at the same time, that event might be from the life of the author. Knowing about the life of the author may also give some reason as to why a character reacts a certain way, or why they chose a certain path in life. Another way for me to understand the books better was to learn about the political events surrounding the book, and world events from that time.
